The holidays at Encore Village are a time when the entire community comes alive with music, laughter, tradition, and togetherness. Throughout December, residents, families, and team members enjoy a full calendar of celebrations that blend cherished classics with new experiences. From concerts and outings to creative workshops and festive gatherings, each event is thoughtfully designed to bring joy, connection, and a sense of wonder to everyone who calls Encore Village home.
The month begins with tree trimming throughout the neighborhoods and our residents joining together to decorate, sip cocoa, and share stories of holidays past. Music fills the air early in the season with performances such as the D211 Adult Chorus, the Schaumburg Youth Choral Concert, and our own Resident Holiday Show. These moments give the community a chance to come together, applaud local talent, and take in the spirit of live holiday entertainment.
Creative expression takes center stage throughout the month. Residents decorate gingerbread houses in the Friendship Center, enjoy a festive karaoke night, and participate in holiday gift wrapping in the Bridgegate Atrium. The energy continues with concerts from Tony Garton, the Schaumburg Youth Orchestra, and Chicago Bronze Bell Choir. Each performance creates an atmosphere of warmth and celebration, turning Encore Village into one of the most festive places in Schaumburg.
For those who love an adventure, December includes beloved outings such as Cantigny Lights and the Marriott Million Dollar Quartet Christmas experience. Residents also enjoy the Paramount Theatre’s production of “White Christmas.” These excursions add sparkle to the season and create lasting memories shared among friends.
Spiritual traditions and meaningful moments are woven throughout the month. Our Hanukkah program, Christmas Songs and Scriptures gathering, and caroling with Carla and Justin provide opportunities for reflection, connection, and community. The dining team also brings joy directly to the table with Christmas in the Village, a special holiday meal delivered to residents across the campus.
As the month comes to a close, Encore Village celebrates in style with a New Year’s Eve Party in the Assembly Hall. It is a festive finale to a month filled with connection and celebration. Meanwhile, model trains and holiday lights bus tours run throughout December, giving residents something magical to enjoy all season long.
The holidays are special at Encore Village because they are built around togetherness. Every concert, outing, meal, and gathering reflects our commitment to creating meaningful moments for the residents who make this community extraordinary. This year’s lineup promises memories that will last long after the decorations come down.
